Doretta Groenendyk

Doretta's paintings and stories come to life at the kitchen table next to a pot of tea and an even larger pot of cookies.

Upon graduating from NSCAD Doretta proceeded to teach, travel and tree plant. Now settled next to a vegetable garden and meadow; Doretta delights in the colours, lines and stories around. Ideas float in, pictures dance, and colours sparkle. There is a sense of narrative, whimsy and play in the images she creates. Her stories feel familiar and create conversation.

Since living in the Annapolis Valley, Doretta has written and illustrated 16 children’s books. Her acrylic paintings are available in maritime galleries and private commissions. She is well known for her school presentations.
